Yesterday was one of the biggest days in Arkansas. The Grand Opening of Buc-ee’s in Benton. All four Little Rock television stations were there to broadcast as the doors opened at 6am. People had been in line for hours… some even brought a tent for the overnight adventure. In the coming days there will be many stories of people sharing their Buc-ee’s experience.
I’ll never forget my first Buc-ee’s experience. Mary & I walked into the Royse City Buc-ee’s just outside of Dallas one morning for a bathroom break. We were like the Beverly Hillbillies Clampetts. We stood in the middle of the store each looking from one end to the other as I said, “”Goll-lee!… and look over there.” I have never seen anything like it…and the bathrooms…WOW! Spotless. They were ORC (Operating Room Clean). The store is huge, clean, friendly, & tasty. I left there wishing I could be a Buc-ee’s mascot. That was my Buc-ee’s experience I shared with our Sunday School class a few days later!
What experience do you get excited about sharing? Maybe it’s Buc-ee’s, a Razorback game, family vacation, a concert or even a great meal at Cyprus Social. It’s that experience that seems to bubble up out of your spirit… you just must tell someone. As you tell your story, your pulse rate increases, your eyes twinkle… you are reliving the experience in your mind. And the last thing on your mind is what someone might say. It’s your story.
So… what about the last Blessing… the last thing that God did for you… have you shared it with anyone? If not, why not? Are you worried people will think you are bragging? Or what might they think? Ponder this for a moment. God gives us Blessings for a purpose. That purpose is for His followers to reflect His Power & Glory… to point people to Jesus.
There is no better illustration of the power of the story than the woman at the well found in John 4:1-26. Jesus intentionally went to a well in Samaria, where Jews were not welcome. There in the hot of the day He waited for the woman coming to get her water. She came in the middle of the day to avoid the other women in her community. She had no value… that is until she met Jesus.
What started with Jesus asking for a drink of water resulted in the woman’s transformation. Her transformation brought value… Everlasting-Eternal Value that only Jesus provides. Value that no one could take away. The lady got her story. And she could not help herself… she had to tell someone. She returned to the town that had rejected her. She was so excited she left her water jars at the well. And what happened?
“Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in Him (Jesus) because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. And because of his words many more became believers. They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.” John 4:39-42
When you think about it. It’s God’s story. God picked the woman to reveal the saving Power of Jesus. The woman’s job… tell the story. And tell the story she did. The town that rejected her was convinced enough to turn out. And Jesus stayed longer than planned.
Paul said it this way in Romans 5: 17-18 “Therefore I glory in Christ Jesus in my service to God. I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done.”
Don’t let God’s story to be wasted. Tell someone. Share the Good News. Who knows… maybe it’s the story that will make “THE” difference in someone’s life!
