God School: Who’s Driving?

“When you let Jesus drive, don’t sit in the back seat and give direction. He knows where He is taking you!!” Jason Benbrook

On Sunday mornings, as we are walking to the Discovery classroom, (Sunday School at First Assembly NLR) our dear friend Jason has something waiting for us on the whiteboard. They are always raw & real. He gets them from the Holy Spirit. I am thankful for his obedience to share God’s words of encouragement. z

How about you…do you share the Good News with people? If not, why not? My friend Jason shares what he has been given…without hesitation. He doesn’t try to figure it out or wonder what someone will think. He just writes it on the board. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes” Romans 1:16

So, think about what Jason wrote. Jesus is driving. Jesus gets us to the destination. It’s not a coincidence. You know in your “knower”…your heart is pounding. It’s an unfamiliar situation…you’re uncomfortable and you feel that nudge, that whisper…that voice inside is telling you… then there is another, all familiar, voice that says, “you are too busy,” “too tired”, “unqualified” or “unprepared”. What will you do? Which voice will you obey?

May His Powerful words sink deep into your heart. May they give you Boldness to Proclaim the Good News.

•“The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him” Psalm 37:23

•“A person’s steps are directed by the Lord. How then can anyone understand their own way?” Proverbs 20:24

•“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

•“Lord, I know that people’s lives are not their own; it is not for them to direct their steps.” Jeremiah 10:23

•“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

Jesus clearly told all who Believe & Follow Him to, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” Mark 16:15

We know from Acts 1:8 that Jesus has provided everything we need to be His witness, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

And then we find our marching order in 1 Peter 3:15, “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.”

Who needs to hear the Good News from your lips?
