This morning my dear friend John, who advises me on my Law of the Farm posts, said something that caused every man at the table to pause and reflect. Each Wednesday morning a small group of men share breakfast & life at B J’s Café in NLR. His question was, “How do you show your wife you love her?” There were responses of doing things, flowers & of course, the romance…but then John said something about spending time with a cup of coffee.

Within minutes one of the guys made the connection with God and how we may think “checking the church activity boxes” pleases God. But both God and Mary really want time where I am physically & emotionally present with them. The kind of time that happens when you share a cup of coffee. No agenda. Just listening & savoring each other’s presence. And no phone or distractions.

God said it this way, “Be still, and know that I am God” Psalm 46:10. Have you ever thought of just inviting Jesus to share a cup of coffee with you? Think it impossible? Listen to His words  “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” Revelation 3:20 This is what Jesus does. “When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” Luke 19:5

Are you tired, exhausted…going through life with your hair on fire? Have you had enough? Jesus is waiting with a cup of coffee…if you will give Him the time.

Are you ready to put the phone down…close the door to all interruptions and just be with Him?
