God School: “Let’s Take A Walk”

This picture was taken in the deep red pine forest of Northwest Minnesota. The mornings were crisp, a good time to take a walk. No phones, no distractions from God’s creation. A time to be still and know that He is God (Ps 46:10).

It’s good to be alone with God. In fact, it’s essential. Being alone with God prepares us for the people God will put on our path. There are 8-10 men who meet at BJ’s Café every Wednesday morning. The conversations will run the gambit of fishing, hunting, and yard work but it always comes back to the home base, Jesus. It’s pretty cool.

It seems I missed a special moment last week. A lady overhearing the conversations asked if she could join the men. Several of the men have told me they were uncomfortable by her request. This is where it gets really cool. For some reason one of my friends decided to sit at the far end of the table. For some reason there was one chair available right beside him. For some reason he quickly got over resisting her presence and began talking to the lady. My friend began ministering to the lady. Because my friend prepares himself daily, he was ready to be used by the Lord.

This morning one of the men told me, “You are not going to believe what happened last week. You missed it.” As they began telling the story the scripture I read only minutes before whispered, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.” Zechariah 8:23. BAM!

The hard question I believe all followers of Christ must ask repeatedly is, “Do people see Jesus in me?” Do I live in such a way that unbelieving people will recognize His Peace, Joy, Hope and Confidence in my life?”

People are struggling to find the Truth…the Hope in life. You can be His messenger. Get over being uncomfortable and just “Do Your Job” (Nick Saban).

Jesus commanded His followers, “And He said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” Luke 10:2

Are you ready?
