God School: A Song of Ascents

It was a time of high anxiety, uncertainty, persecution, and turmoil. That was what life was like when people and Jesus climbed these steps to the Temple Mount. I learned, when I went to Israel, and took this picture, the custom was to recite from Psalms the “songs of Ascents.” You can find these in Psalms120–134.

Maybe you are feeling the anxiety and uncertainty of times today. Good News, the answer is still the same as it was 2500 years ago. We will never find Security, Peace, Confidence & Joy from anything the world offers. Those attributes are found in only one location, In God Word. Ponder His Words from Psalm 121,

“I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from?

2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot slip— He who watches over you will not slumber;

4 Indeed, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand;

6 The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.

7 The Lord will keep you from all harm—He will watch over your life;

8 The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”

“Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of His purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, He confirmed it with an oath.” Hebrews 6:17

“Get into the Word and the Word will get into you.” George Preiss, BSF Teaching Leader
