Law of The Farm: Confidence

This is what a newly planted rice field looked like when my dad finished. After all the work and money, when he pulled the equipment & men out of the field there was nothing to show for it. Or was there?

I never saw dad come home from planting all day and worry all night if the seed would work. Dad would sleep well through the night and get up before daybreak and do it again until every field was planted. He didn’t know scientifically how the seed worked but he knew if the ground temperature, moisture, and the soil condition were right, then the seed would work. Dad knew the fact… If you don’t plant, you will never harvest. BAM! Sounds like a Biblical Principle found in Galatians 6:7, “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.”

But there are so many more Biblical Principles to be found.

A farmer must have “confidence” in things bigger than himself. Confidence in the process. Confidence in in things he cannot see. If you think this sounds like Hebrews 11:1, you would be right. “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

So, a farmer can believe the seed will work but must have the confidence to do his job…to act…to plant the seed so there will be a harvest. We find in James 2:7 “In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” Throughout the Bible, God told His followers to “Go,” to “Follow Him” to act in obedience.

So, what is the seed? Jesus told us in Luke 8:11, “This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the Word of God (the Bible).” Everything a person needs to have a successful life (in right relationship with Him) is found in the Bible…”The Guidebook For Living.” James said it this way in James 1:22, “But be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

How about you? Do you have confidence in the “SEED,” His Word? Are you ready to go to the field to plant?

The conditions are right…the seed is ready…He is calling…
