It’s the question that stirs anxiety. It’s the “in between time” of the doctor saying, “it could be…” and the doctor saying days later, “the test reveals….” It’s the time delay between taking the test and when the scores are posted. It’s the not-knowing. Our todays are full of unknowns. But are they? Think about it. Is your life really any different than the young pregnant girl in this song?
One of the favorite Christmas songs is, “Mary Did You Know?” This powerful & profound song asks the question first to Mary but also to us, “Did you know?” Just as Mary had no idea what tomorrow or the years to come would bring, neither do we. Ponder these questions from the song.
Mary, did you know that your baby boy…
Would one day walk on water?
Would save our sons and daughters?
Has come to make you new?
This Child that you delivered will soon deliver you.
Will give sight to the blind man?
Would calm a storm with His hand?
Has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little baby you’ve kissed the face of God?
The blind will see
The deaf will hear;
The dead will live again!
The lame will leap
The dumb will speak
The praises of the Lamb!
Is the Lord of all creation?
Will one day rule the nations?
Was heaven’s perfect Lamb?
And the sleeping Child you’re holdin’
Is the Great I Am!
Oh, Mary, did you know?
Do you know the One who holds all your tomorrows in His Hand? Make this a special Christmas…”Come near to God and He will come near to you.” James 4:8
And when you do, He makes this promise for your today, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10
…and your tomorrow’s, “I (Jesus) give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.” John 10:28
