God Art

In August 2014 I had the privilege of being in Israel with a group from our church. One of the places we stayed was in northern Galilee. At supper one night one of our group members said, “I’m going to spend the night up on the roof and watch the sun come up over the Sea of Galilee.” I decided to sleep in my comfortable bed and set the alarm to get up in time. This is my favorite picture of the many I took. I call it God Art.

It was after I took this picture, I noticed it captured so many things. Notice the clouds. The white image, the break in the clouds could be the Cross or the Dove. Also, notice as the sunbeams pierce through the clouds they seem to speak of God’s Glory. But the part of the picture that takes my breath away is the spotlight. It’s like the spotlight on the dark stage when the producer wants to remove all distractions for something incredibly significant. I can almost hear, “It was right there…right there My Son walked on the stormy water…where He taught “nothing is impossible for God” …and where He snatched Peter from drowning.

Maybe you see yourself right there with Peter on a stormy sea of life. This is common. Years earlier the Prophet Jeremiah wrote of being overwhelmed by the storms of life in Lamentations 3. After reflecting on the terrible & impossible things he said this in verses 21-26. “Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him.” The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”

May this picture Bless you. May it cause you to stop and ponder how great His love is for you. He is our One & Only Hope. His Mercies & Grace are fresh every morning. Only Jesus has the authority & power to promise, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

Love this picture. What an experience! I am trying not to be jealous since I didn’t get to go to the Holy Lands. But Jesus has promised me that I WILL get to see it and He will be my Guide!

    1. Now that’s a trip worth waiting on…A personal tour by the owner. Think about this. As you will go along He will stop and say,, “Now right here I did…” “Now over here is where…”
