“IF”

It’s just a two-letter word…but more powerful than the $10 words of a crafty wordsmith. The dictionary calls it a conjunction, used “to introduce possible or impossible situations or conditions.” Google. I did a search in BibleGateway and found 1,522 times “IF” is used in the Bible. Here are a couple of examples:

Genesis 4:7 “If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”

2 Chronicles 7:14 “…if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land”.

Revelation 3:20 “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

John 14:15 “If you love me, keep my commands.”

I never noticed it when I was working. But being retired I recognize the exhausting attribute in myself that I see in so many people today. I remember everyday was like being a fireman. Once the fire was out, another popped up. Even though firefighting was exhausting, I was addicted to the rush. Time was so precious, and I never had enough. I hear it today when I ask men to Bible Study Fellowship, “I just don’t have time. I know I need to and would like to, but I just don’t have time.”

As you close 2024, do you recognize yourself as a time-firefighter? Are you rolling out of bed with your hair on fire answering the call to duty? Are you exhausted? “If” there was a better way, would you like to know about it? On December 31, 2020, I sent Today’s Good News to several friends and family. It still works. Try the challenge.

  • “1%
  • Overwhelmed…not enough time to do it all…life on a tread mill…we are exhausted so we sleep as long as we can, pile out of bed, race around the house as if our hair is on fire and off to work, we go. Sound familiar?
  • Tomorrow, the first day of 2021, make a 1% change in your life. Everyone gets 1,440 minutes in day. Start the day by “intentionally” giving Him just 14.4 minutes (1%) at the beginning of your day.
  • Challenge: I believe if you intentionally do this, by April 1, it will give you a new outlook on life as it has for me.
  • “This is what the Lord says-He who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:16,18-19 “

Start by prayerful reading the Psalms & Proverbs. Then ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in your reading. At the end of 90 days let me know how He has transformed your day. Isn’t it time for a positive change? It’s just 14.4 minutes at the beginning of the day.

Take the 90-day, 1% challenge …what have you got to lose?”

I can’t wait to hear from you.
