“I Will Never…”

As a person who vowed to never use Facebook, here I am. The short story is God used this media & another media I also vowed I would never use, “texting” to do what I never thought I would do, write & publish devotionals. Yep, the guy who flunked out of college (well, the first time). God has an incredible sense of humor. He likes to make a point, He is “I AM!” (Exodus 3:14). It’s all about Him.

Remember Moses? Remember how he kept throwing up reasons he would not be able to do what God asked him to do? God listened. God convinced Moses He (God), not Moses would provide everything Moses would need. And He did! This is not a unique story in the Bible. No, it is the reoccurring story of how only God takes inability, inadequate & unable to point to His transformational power.

Think about it. From Noah to Peter & John…from the teenage David to Paul…from Nehemiah to Nicodemus, there was Abraham, and don’t overlook, Rahab, Sarah, Jonah, Daniel, Matthew, Ruth, the woman at the well and so many more who did not have the ability to do what they did. Not one! But listen to what the “transformed” Paul said, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13. But what things? Here’s the key, God things.

God things are part of God’s Plan. Every follower of Christ has a personal & individualized plan. We find in Jerimiah 29:11-14, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord.” Did you get it? Your plan is your story, but here’s the twist, God, not you and me is the main and leading character in the story. All through the Bible, it’s about God’s redemptive love for His people. This is what John 3:16 is about. “He (God the Father) gave His one and only Son (Jesus), that whoever (this means everyone) believes (the key) in Him (Jesus) shall not perish but have eternal life.” This is the Plan.

Isn’t about time you turned your “I could never”, “I can’t”, “I don’t have time” and all of your past excuses over to the “One and Only” who has a proven record of transforming water into wine, lame into runners, rejects into people of influence…nothing into something? The bottom line… Jesus is Enough! And get this, He is the only ONE that can transform your anxiety into Peace and fear into Faith. He has THE Power. So, right now do what the scripture calls you to do, “Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,” declares the Lord.” Jerimiah 29:12
