Are You Afraid?
Are you afraid of what might happen if your person is not elected? Many are. But how are Believers to act & respond? What does God have to say?
First, God tells us through Paul, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7 If you study your Bible, you will know that Paul faced many persecutions from political & religious leaders, yet I find no evidence of Paul voicing an opinion about politics. Listen to these words from Philippians 3:20, “But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.” For Paul and mature Believers, this world is not “IT”! The military has a term for this, TDY (Temporary Duty Assignment) We are simply passing through this world, and all Believers have a job. Jesus clearly said, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”
But what if things get worse? Again, it’s in your Bible, Believers have experienced challenging times before. Take for instance when Israel & Judah both refused to obey God. Then God allowed the Assyrians & Babylonians to conquer them. It was brutal. Yet in the brutal & evil conditions we see God’s presence. God speaks to us today from Daniel 2:19-21 “During the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven and said: “Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are His. He changes times and seasons; He deposes kings and raises up others.” Know this. God was, is and will always be on the Throne. He is in Control!
Finally, I’m sure you have heard the phrase, “God is on our side.” But we find Joshua, the mighty warrior-leader, hand-picked by God, had to go to God School. “Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, “Are you for us or for our enemies?” “Neither,” he replied, “but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, “What message does my Lord have for his servant?” The commander of the Lord’s army replied, “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so.” Joshua 5:13-15 Simply put, it’s God’s way or no way.
So, we have a right & a responsibility to vote. Brave men & women have died for this right. As Believers we should know there are no perfect candidates. We should Pray and seek His guidance and vote. Then let go of the results. That belongs to God.
No matter what happens, we have this Promise from Daniel 7:18 ““But in the end, the holy people of the Most High will be given the kingdom, and they will rule forever and ever.”
The Good News, Jesus said, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Revelation 22:20
Are you ready?
Absolutely perfect message for today! Amen & amen!
