I remember getting ready early in the morning to go to the field. Hooking up the equipment was always a process. It required getting the hole in the tractor hitch and the hole in the equipment hitch lined up perfectly. So many times, I thought I had it lined up only to discover after I had climbed off the tractor that I was just close. In this instance close does not count.
The tractor is the power source. By itself it will not disc, harrow, level or plant a crop. The extremely heavy farm equipment is attached to the tractor with a “Hitch Pin”. A hitch pin is not pretty. It’s easily overlooked. It’s made of special heavy grade forged steel. A wooden stick will not work, nor will a regular piece of metal hold up under the stress. The last thing you ever want on the farm is for your equipment to break away from the tractor. The enormous weight of the farm implement plus the resistance of working the soil is held to the incredible power of the tractor by a relatively small piece of steel.
When you think about it, this is much like our relationship with Christ. At the core of being a follower of Christ is faith & believing. But at the bedrock of faith & believing is “TRUST”. Trust is the hitch pin to our relationship. Do I trust Him?
“They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.” Psalm 112:7 “…in God I trust and am not afraid. What can man do to me?” Psalm 56:11.
Over the years there have been storms. Each storm has strengthened my trust in Him (Jesus). He has proven to be the Trustworthy Promise Keeper.
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise Him.” Psalm 28:7
Wouldn’t you like to have freedom from fear & anxiety in this messed up world? Wouldn’t you like to have the Peace of knowing that No-Matter-What, the One who created everything will hold you in the palm of His hand? (John 10:28)
You can have the Peace…the Joy that only following Jesus can provide. (Philippians 4:7) No matter who you are, what you have done. The thief on the cross is proof of Romans 10:9 “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Savor His Word in your heart today. From Jeremiah 17:7-8, “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.” Praise God. He can & will hold up under the load of life!
Amen!
