Hang On…

On July 25th I noticed this limb hanging in midair. On August the 17th the limb was still hanging in midair, even after 40mph winds from the previous night. There the limb hung by a tiny spider web. A tiny, insignificant creature God created.

Think about this. We marvel at what people make & do but seldom spend time in awe at what God has created. God’s creation is full of His Glorious Power. I found this on Google about a spider’s web, “Spider webs are incredibly strong, and some say that if a spider web were the size of a human, it could catch a jetliner. Spider silk is made of thousands of tiny strands that are 1,000 times thinner than a human hair and only 20 millionths of a millimeter in diameter. These strands stick together to form cables, and the silk is also reinforced with micro loops. The result is a material that’s stronger than steel and tougher than Kevlar on a pound-for-pound basis. Spider silk is also stronger than steel in terms of strength-to-density ratio, meaning that a strand of silk is much stronger for its size than a steel beam. Spider silk has 5 times the tensile strength than steel at the same diameter strand.”

Question, what you are holding on to (what you see & touch), will it withstand the high winds from the storms of life? Does what you are holding onto require human effort? Will it provide you the Peace that surpasses all understanding? (Philippians 4:7)

The Creator of the spider is the same Creator who provides our only Hope, His Son, Jesus. Paul describes it this way, “Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.” Philippians 3:12 Then from Hebrews 6:17-20, “Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of His purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, He confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf.”

Storms are coming. Jesus told us, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” The same Jesus who spoke and calmed the sea, which healed the sick, rose Lazarus form the dead tells you & me, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” Revelation 3:20. “Come Jesus Come”!
