It is incredible how God works! Over 25 years ago, while on a late-night flight I had an incredible conversation with an elderly Jewish man. He was full of “people wisdom.” He gave me a piece of wisdom that has been carried with me until this day. He summed up his thoughts on dealing with difficult people like this, “Robert, there is a Yiddish proverb that goes like this, ““Az mir daf schlogen a hunt, canst funnen a schtekl.’”. Then he translated it to, ‘If you want to beat a dog, you will find a stick!”
BAM! This explains why reason, logic and facts do not always work. The dog just happens to be available. We find the reason in Proverbs 23:7, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” How we think is directly related to our heart condition. We find in Proverbs 14:22, “If you plan to do evil, you will be lost; if you plan to do good, you will receive unfailing love and faithfulness.”
How’s your thinking? Do you find yourself looking for a stick when things don’t go your way? If you do, you need Jesus. Paul, our example of the transformational power of Jesus said it like this, “the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.” Philippians 3:20-21
Transformation happens through prayer & Scripture. You may need to seek a professional to begin your journey to freedom. But know this, only Jesus can & will transform your heart.
“Jesus, I need you! Holy Spirit I ask that you, ‘Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.’” Psalm 25:4-5
Make this Christmas special. He has a gift for you…
