God is fascinating. One thing I have learned through Bible study is God leaves His fingerprints wherever He goes… but you can’t see His fingerprints flying through life. We must “Search for it like hidden treasure. If you do this, you will understand what it means to respect the Lord, and you will come to know God.” Proverbs 2:4-5
It was Sunday October 26th, 2025, when I walked into our Sunday School room and saw a message my dear friend Jason had written on the whiteboard. BAM, there it was, God’s fingerprint. Jason had unknowingly written a statement that fit perfectly with the lesson. Our lesson was from Joshua 6, a powerful story of God’s unlimited power to protect and provide for His people.
Jesus described how He provides & protects His followers in John 10. He called Himself… “I am the good shepherd, and the good shepherd gives his life for the sheep.” (v11). In verses 14-15 Jesus further describes Himself, “I am the shepherd who cares for the sheep. I know my sheep just as the Father knows me. And my sheep know me just as I know the Father. I give my life for these sheep.”
Both illustrations point to one clear point. Follow the Lord. Joshua & the Israelites & Christ are to follow the Lord.
So, as I looked at the words on the whiteboard, “The closer we are to the shepherd the safer we are from the wolf.”, they immediately connected with, “Then the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men.” Joshua 6:2.
Whether it’s an impossible enemy wall or the wolf at the door God’s Word is clear, “If God is for us, no one can stand against us. And God is with us.” Romans 8:31.
Followers of Christ have this certainty, “Do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will give you strength, and for sure I will help you. Yes, I will hold you up with My right hand that is right and good.” Isaiah 41:10
There are many wolves in this world and only One Good Shepherd. Are you close enough to the Good Shepherd? Do you know His voice? Do you feel the warmth of His presence?
