Truth…it’s getting harder to find. Never in mankind’s history have we had so much information. And now with AI, it is next to impossible to determine if what we see or read is true and real or something that has been manufactured. Not knowing creates uncertainty & anxiety. Uncertain & anxious is exactly how I would define today’s culture. We are waiting…holding our breath for the next shoe to fall.
Truth…what is it & where do you find it?
We find the world’s definition on Google AI that says, “Truth is the property of being in accordance with fact or reality, representing a correspondence between a statement or belief and the actual state of the world.” And, “You can find the truth through a combination of methods: critically evaluating information from multiple reputable sources, examining facts and logic, seeking guidance from experts, and looking inward to your own experiences and beliefs.” For me it’s way too many words that can be twisted & manipulated into someone’s opinion.
What does our Creator, God say?
“The Lord is the source of wisdom; knowledge and understanding come from His mouth.” Proverbs 2:6. Further we find in, 2 Timothy 3:16, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” And we know from Titus 1:2, “This faith and knowledge make us sure that we have eternal life. God promised that life to us before time began—and God does not lie.” In summary we find “The Truth” in the Bible, the written Word of God.
“I have tried to read the Bible, and I just don’t understand it.”
There is a very fundamental reason. Men may have held the pen, but God gave each person writing His Word (see 2 Tim 3:16) what He wanted recorded. This is from Isaiah 55:8, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.”
Paul uses the word mystery several times in the New Testament, Ephesians 1:9 “He made known to us the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure, which He purposed in Christ”. In other words, the Bible is not just another book on the shelf. It is, “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword…” Hebrews 4:12
Since God is the author of the Bible, we need help the Bible. “God’s Spirit unlocks His Truth to transform our hearts & lives.” Bible Study Fellowship Notes, Ezra, Lesson 11. This why Jesus told us, “But the Helper will teach you everything and cause you to remember all that I told you. This Helper is the Holy Spirit that the Father will send in my name.” John 14:26
“People who do not have God’s Spirit do not accept the things that come from His Spirit. They think these things are foolish. They cannot understand them, because they can only be understood with the Spirit’s help.” 1 Corinthians 2:14 In summary we, as people, cannot understand Spiritual matters without the Holy Spirit.
Ok, how do I get the Holy Spirit?
Peter tells in Acts 2:38, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” In other words, to be able to understand God’s Word requires the Holy Spirit. And to get the indwelling of the Holy Spirit a person must read the instructions to be born again found in John 3.
Then we will find from God’s Word…
“The Spirit God gave us does not make us afraid. His Spirit is a source of power and love and self-control.” 2 Timothy 1:7
“You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” John 8:32
“God is spirit. So the people who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:24
“But when the Spirit of truth comes, He will lead you into all truth. He will not speak His own words. He will speak only what He hears and will tell you what will happen in the future.” John 16:13
