“REPRESENTATIVE! I Want To Speak To A REPRESENTATIVE!”

Just like the dude in the picture I have literally screamed into the phone, “REPRESENTATIVE!” only to hear, “would you like to speak to a representative?”

This is usually followed by a series of choices, “Press 1 if you have this situation, Press 2 if you are experiencing this situation, press 3 if…and by the time I get through all of the choices I’m so confused & frustrated I just hang up.

Going to the company webpage is no better. After clicking support it takes you to a series of questions that take you to articles to read about your problem. I just want to get the problem solved.

If only I could talk to a real person… if only!

You know, sometimes we feel this same frustration with God. We pray… we talk to Him and we wait. “God… are you there?” “God, do you hear me?” If you have prayed this, you are not alone. Even in scripture we find this mystery.

“Lord, you have seen this; do not be silent. Do not be far from me, Lord. Psalm 35:22

David prayed this way, “I pray to you, O Lord, my rock. Do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you are silent, I might as well give up and die.” Psalm 28:1

But what do we do until we hear from God? We find our answer in God’s Word. Allow Habakkuk to whisper to your heart.

In Habakkuk 1:2-3, “How long, Lord, must I call for help, but you do not listen? Or cry out to you, “Violence!” but you do not save? 3 Why do you make me look at injustice? Why do you tolerate wrongdoing? Destruction and violence are before me; there is strife, and conflict abounds.”

Then God responds in 1:5 “Look at the nations and watch—and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.” And God did just that!

Good News, He hears us. In Revelation 5:8, we find that our prayers are the “fragrant incense found in the golden bowls” in the throne room of heaven.

In Matthew 26:39 & 42, we find 2 times Jesus prayed in the Garden, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.” And God remained silent.

But note we have God’s promise He gave to us in Joshua 1:9, “for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Jesus promised us in Matthew 28:20 “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” We are not alone.

Habakkuk concludes with, “Yet I will wait patiently for the day of calamity to come on the nation invading us. Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, He enables me to tread on the heights.” Habakkuk 3:16-19

Don’t mistake God’s silence for not caring. He is right beside us! In fact, The Holy Spirit, who resides in His Believers, provides the confidence & power to face the impossible situations. In Daniel 3, when the 3 young Jewish boys are given a choice to either bow down to the idol or be thrown into the furnace they told the king, “But even if He does not (save them from the furnace), we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” Daniel 3:18. They trusted God with a No-Matter-What Faith.

The more you know Him, the more you love & trust Him.
