Why can Mary find a shirt in the closet, and I can’t? So many times, when I am looking for something in the refrigerator, pantry, my closet… anywhere, I don’t see it, but Mary will say, “Here it is.” Busted! How can that be… I was looking. A Google search revealed, “According to Dr. Arenson, most men manage their thoughts in a compartmentalized fashion, while women think more fluidly and use rapid sequencing to think of multiple things, one after the other. This physiologic difference also affects peripheral vision, with studies showing significant female superiority in this area.” As a guy I interpret this to mean, where I look is probably where I think it should be and look the way I think it should look. Men, by design, are more laser focused while women look from a wider view. (See my last post on “Normal.”)
So, how do you see life? More precisely, what are you looking for? Are you starting out your day & ending your day with social media or the network news? Or are you starting out your day & ending your day with Praise, worship & study with Almighty God? Understand, this choice will shape your day. But don’t take my word for it. Try starting with God for 30 days, non-stop. Spend just 20-30 minutes alone with Him and see what happens.
I have fallen in love with Revelation. While I don’t understand all the symbolism, I do recognize the Principles that are in BOLD, Italicized & Underlined. Take for instance Revelation 4:1-2 starting with the first four words from John, “Then as I looked…” John chose to look. He was looking & searching for Jesus. Now read what happened next. “I saw a door standing open in heaven, and the same voice I had heard before spoke to me like a trumpet blast. The voice said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must happen after this.” John saw what he had never imagined. He saw things that were so difficult to put into words. But read what happens next. “And instantly I was in the Spirit, and I saw a throne in heaven and someone sitting on it.” John now could see through the eyes of Jesus. He now sees beyond his human ability.
Do you remember Paul, you know, the guy who was persecuting the followers of Jesus. It was just an ordinary day of tracking down Believers to persecute when, “As I was on the road, approaching Damascus about noon, a very bright light from heaven suddenly shone down around me. 7 I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’ 8 “‘Who are you, lord?’ I asked. “And the voice replied, ‘I am Jesus the Nazarene, the one you are persecuting.’ 9 The people with me saw the light but didn’t understand the voice speaking to me. 10 “I asked, ‘What should I do, Lord?’ “And the Lord told me, ‘Get up and go into Damascus, and there you will be told everything you are to do.’ 11 “I was blinded by the intense light and had to be led by the hand to Damascus by my companions.” Acts 22:6-11 Then in verse 13 we discover God gave Paul special sight, “And that very moment I could see him!” Paul never looked back. Everything he did was focused on Christ and not his circumstances.
Only Jesus can give you that power to see. The question is do you want to see Him? Are you ready to change the way you see life…the way you see people, or will you continue with a worldly view? It’s a choice that has eternal consequences.
Loved this! Keep up the good work!
