Do you ever feel like you can’t make a difference? Do you ever self-talk, “I’m only one person, what could I do?” “I don’t have ____ like other people have.” Flash, this thinking did not come from God! I know this because it would violate God’s Law of the Farm. I believe God used His Farm, the Garden of Eden, as His center stage to illustrate His Principles, His Laws…His Way to teach us.

Last year, after harvest, I sat down with two of my farmer friends to talk about “Lessons From the Farm.” I asked them, “So how many grains of rice will one (1) seed produce?” My friend, John, quickly replied, “hundredfold!” Think about it…One little insignificant seed can produce 100+ grains. Jesus told us, “Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.” Luke 8:8. In Genesis 26:12, we read, “Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the Lord blessed him.” Notice it was God’s Power that made the harvest possible.

You might be telling yourself, “yeah, but….” The world’s message is, You can’t! One of the world’s strategies to control people is the fear of being alone, not counted…cancelled. This results in people becoming depressed & hopeless. But with God…this is never true…it will never happen. Listen to these words of encouragement God personally gave to Joshua, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

I have noticed a unique way God works throughout the Bible. He uses individuals. Usually, these individuals are flawed and do not have the power & prestige of the world. Noah was one guy God instructed on building the Ark. There was Abraham God called to go…not knowing where or what would happen. God used Abraham to stakeout what became known as the Promise Land. There was Moses who led God’s people to redemption. There was David the shepherd boy who became king. There was the kid with a small basket of fish & bread Jesus used to feed 5,000. There was Peter who let Jesus down so many times, yet it was Peter Jesus used to establish His church. And then there was Paul who persecuted Believers God used to spread the Gospel of the Good News. ONLY God has this transforming power.

So, if you feel ordinary, even blemished, good news…Jesus said you are just what I am looking for. The He tells us, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8 He gives us this power, the power the world does not have or understands, to be His witness…the tell His story at the gas pump, the store, wherever people are located.

“Plant the good seeds of righteousness, and you will harvest a crop of love. Plow up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the Lord, that He may come and shower righteousness upon you.” Hosea 10:12
