In a few weeks we will begin to hear them in the air…Canadian Geese. Can you imagine a goose being interviewed on TV? The interviewer would form questions around the facts I found on Google.
- “Mr. George Goose, why do y’all fly in a “V” formation?” George’s response…silence.
- “Mr. George, what training have you and the other geese received to be prepared to lead the large gaggle of geese?” George’s response…more silence.
Here are some other fascinating facts about the migration of geese.
- “Energy conservation – reduces wind resistance and allows them to conserve energy.
- Visual assurance – easy for geese to keep track of each other and maintain visual contact.
- Communication and coordination – allows geese to communicate and coordinate with each other, which helps with navigation and avoiding collisions.
- Take turns leading – falling back when they get tired. This allows them to fly for longer periods of time before needing to rest.
- Increased range – allows the flock to travel 71% farther than if each bird flew alone.
- Sync wing beats – which helps them conserve energy.”
“Geese can travel some 1,500 miles a day at speeds of 40 to 70mph depending on the tail wind. They can even sleep while flying. And The geese also honk to coordinate position shifts while flying in the V formation, which makes the flock more aerodynamic. Geese honk to encourage one another to stay in position, ensuring that the birds maintain a cohesive and streamlined formation while flying away from the snow for the season.” Google
Some people may call this a mystery, I call it God. Now, there is much more I don’t know about God, but I am comforted by the fact I know:
- He is in Full Control (Ex 7:17 “I will show you that I am the Lord.”).
- He loves people so much He gave up His One & Only Son (Jn 3:16) to die on the cross that people could be redeemed from their sins and live with Him for eternity.
- Creator God has a Redemption Plan (the Bible) given to us through His messengers over thousands of years of how anyone may choose to live for eternity with Him. (John 14:6 Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.)
- Creator God’s Plan of Redemption is that a person must repent and make Him the undisputed #1 in their life and “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
- And for those that remain Faithful to Him we discover this powerful Promise from the King of Kings…the One who is “coming soon”,” Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. The devil will throw some of you into prison to test you. You will suffer for ten days. But if you remain faithful even when facing death, I will give you the crown of life. “Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. Whoever is victorious will not be harmed by the second death.” (Revelation 2:10-11)
The One who enables the geese to migrate is the same God I trust for today & tomorrow. Only Jesus can transform your worry, anger, fear into the Joy of knowing for certain, “I (Jesus) give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.” (John 10:28)
Savor this verse from Isaiah 41:10 today. Let it sink deep into your heart, “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
Absolutely fascinating! God is so good! Loved this! Guess I skipped over it last week but thankful I found it today!
