“This Time I’ll Use A Bigger Mallet!”

Crime is up…Prices are up…There are wars & rumors of war…People are anxious & scared about the future. The country is divided. We seem to be playing the real-life game of “Wac-A-Mole”. Just as fast as we knock down one problem, up pops another. So, we try to solve our life problems with a bigger mallet. We throw more money, resources & even the blood of our people at the problems. But problems just keep coming. Some are convinced the answer lies with who gets elected. But history teaches us a different lesson.

The problem is not new. We relabeled the problems and call them unique, but they are as-old-as-time. Like the “Wac-A-Mole”, there is only one solution to keeping all of the “moles” down…you have to go to the source and unplug it!

Whether it is the world’s problem or a problem at home, God gave us His Guidebook for Living, the Bible. When we fail to follow His Way, His Paths, His Truths and allow Him to Teach us (Ps 25:4,5) the mole (trouble) pops up more & more. Here is what God has to say about our situation today.

“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”   2 Chronicles 7:14

God has given us the answer, what are you going to do about it? This command clearly requires each one of us individually, to go to our knees in prayer, to repent of our sins against God and each other. To stop what we have been doing and turn to Him. To seek Him first. To trust & obey His instruction.  To take Jesus seriously when He said in Matthew 22:37,” You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.”

AMEN….and as we pray, let us focus on how BIG our God is rather than how big our problems are! May we remember who He is and what He has done and will do! There is no greater power than God’s power!
