Truth & Trust…

Last week I searched on Google for a man’s plaid newsboy hat. For the next few days, my phone and laptop were flooded with opportunities to buy such a hat. It’s become commonplace in our world. Whatever you search for… technology will flood you with it. Like no other time in history technology is used to track & predict what we will do. It was designed, built & operated by man…which means it has the potential for good or evil. To some it is their god. When we study history, we will recognize there are one-way doors of change. Once a culture or people go through the door there appears to be no turning back. Technology may have taken us through this door.

Like no time in my life has the question of truth & trust been more apparent. What is the truth and who can I trust? For me, as a Believer, the certain truth is only found in God’s Word. Everything else is opinion. Who do I trust completely…Only God!

What was written thousands of years ago is true today. “You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.” Psalm 139:1-6.

When I look back on my life, I recognize how He strategically placed specific scripture, special people and unique resources before a storm hit. While I didn’t always recognize it at the moment of the storm, when I look back it brought tears of Joy to see His fingerprints. There is no doubt in my heart when He says time and time again, “I Am with you” it is a promise He made and keeps.

Technology may be able to predict certain things…but it is not sovereign. Only God has a plan and the power to fulfill His Plan. From Genesis to Revelation there are several recognizable truths:

  • Creator God is in Control – Psalm 73:28
  • God desires a relationship with everyone – John 3:16
  • Certainty of Judgment – Matthew 12:36
  • Redemption & Eternal Salvation – 1 Peter 1:17-21, Romans 10:9
  • Victorious Forever – Revelation 21:7
  • Confidence – John 10:28

The more I know Him, the more I Trust Him. The more I Trust Him, the more Confidence I have. The more Confidence I have, the more I am in awe of His Great Love.

God’s Word, the Bible, is His love letter to us. Isn’t it time you sat down, read & pondered His precious letter that was written with His Son’s blood?
