“For As He Thinks In His Heart, So Is He.”

This Proverb is worth repeating. “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV). This week I asked my doctor, “How are you doing?” She paused and said, “Some days it’s hard.” I asked, “Oh, how is that?” She replied, “Some people are very difficult to get along with…they come in angry.” Note, she is a sweet & very caring doctor.

You can see it in the stores, families, work, schools, churches…wherever people gather there is the potential for an outbreak of anger. But we didn’t get here overnight. This anger & division has been developing. If you study history, you recognize there are very few spontaneous events. What we are witnessing today is an orchestrated plan to divide people…all people. Jesus identifies the root of division in John 8:44, “For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.” At the heart of the message of division is, “Life is not as I expected because of….!” The merchants of hate & division point out different groups & ideas to hate. They pump this message into our lives 24/7! We are all prone to listen…but choose God’s Word.

Replace the poison of the world’s message with, “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus” Phillipians 2:5 There is only One Truth, One Hope, One Savior, Jesus. Our hope is not going to come from a politician, a new law, silencing & persecuting a group or even a new “How To” book. No, because the source to the Truth, Hope and Savior is found in the book, “The Bible.” Don’t depend on someone reading for you, read it yourself. Our Heavenly Father sent the Holy Spirit to teach & instruct us personally (John 14:26). Don’t waste your time listening to false hopes, turn to Jesus. It is Jesus, the Promise-Keeping-King-of-Kings who said, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10.

It begins with a decision before your feet hit the floor. First, thank Him. Second, ask the Holy Spirit to, “Show me Your Ways, teach me Your Paths, Guide me in Your Truth and Teach me for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” Psalm 25:4,5. Third, talk to Jesus. You will be amazed at how He can change your outlook…your thinking! Only Jesus. Ponder this through your day, “…have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.”
