Because I grew up on a rice/soybean farm, I find the Principles of the Farm found in the Bible fascinating, true and very personal.
# Farming is a process that requires:
- Most of your time & attention;
- Wise & deliberate choices;
- Relentless persistence, and
- Always keeping your focus on the purpose, the Harvest.
# Seed that remains in the bag will never produce a harvest.
# If you plant weeds…you will harvest weeds.
Everything on the farm is a process that requires time. If the farmer does not prioritize and use his time correctly there will be no harvest. Farming is an unforgiving process. There is no “try” in farming. It’s either do or don’t.
In Luke 8 & Mark 4, Jesus illustrated this Principle. “The seed is the Word of God.” Luke 8:11 – “The farmer (Believer) sows the Word.” Mark 4:14. It’s not enough to just study & know the Word of God, we are called to “Go!”
Today so many Believers are watching the ever-changing winds of events on TV & social media when they should be in the field planting God’s Word. We have no control or authority over elections, the economy, or the next crisis. We only have authority to choose what we think & how we respond. Jesus said in Matthew 28:19 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…”
“Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.” Ecclesiastes 11:4
God is in control. He will deal with the events of the day. We are called to the field because…”It’s Plantin’ Time!”
